Cotton -The most common fabric content of sheets is cotton. Sheets made of 100% cotton are the softest, most breathable, and most durable. Cotton also allows an easier absorption of moisture. Cotton blends are now also widely used because they do not wrinkle as much as pure cotton and are more affordable. Some types of cotton known for their exceptional quality are: Egyptian, Pima, Supimar, and organic.
Synthetic –The most common synthetic fabric used in sheets is polyester. It is manmade and is wrinkle-resistant but it does not possess the softness, breathability, and durability of pure cotton. It also has the tendency to pill which results in the formulation of tiny balls of fabric that gather on the surface.
Blend –Being the most common blend, cotton/polyester is less breathable and warmer than 100% cotton, more durable than synthetic fabrics, but less durable than 100% cotton.
Thread count is another keyword to consider in choosing sheets for your California king size beds. Thread count refers to the number of threads per square inch of fabric, both vertically and horizontally. The higher the thread count, the softer and more durable the sheet is. It can be found on the front label of the sheet. An ideal thread count is at least 200.
Lastly, it is always wise to maintain at least three sets of cal king sheets for your California king size bed with the first on the bed, the second ready for laundry, and the third in the linen closet. You don't want to be late for work because you did a quick wash on your sheets or run the risk of getting the wash done before you go to bed.
